Secretariat
The Troika Chair (Philippines) informed the meeting that the Secretariat of the Tripartite Forum housed at the Philippine Mission uses the existing communication lines of the Philippine Mission and that its website is under construction, targeted to be operational by May 2006.
The Troika
Consistent with the Terms of Reference of the Tripartite Forum, the Troika will hold open-ended meetings as often as necessary. The Troika members will be responsible for consulting with their respective constituencies (governments, UN system and NGOs accredited with the UN).
Prospective Partners
The widest possible participation in the Tripartite Forum of governments, UN system and NGOs accredited with the UN, either as partners or observers, will be promoted in keeping with the spirit of inclusiveness.
Records and Communication System
The Troika members will devise their system of communicating with their respective constituencies. The Chair of the Troika will circulate information notes as often as necessary and will post the notes on the website. The highlights of each meeting will serve as the record of that meeting.
The Plenary
The Troika suggests that the plenary meet at least once every quarter in a cordial atmosphere open to interested observers.
Projects/ Activities
The Troika suggests that a high level conference be held this year preferably on the International Day of Peace on 21 September 2006 and suggests that a tripartite working group be created for this purpose.
The Troika also suggests that a series of informal information sessions be held preferably once every month on issues relating to the mission of the Tripartite Forum, and that speakers will be invited to these information sessions.
The Troika agrees to conduct a study, in consultation with concerned delegations, on the current status of the different General Assembly resolutions dealing with or relevant to interfaith dialogue and cooperation for peace, and to submit to the plenary the results of the study by July 2006 for its information and consideration.
The Troika welcomes the plans of the Secretariat of the Tripartite Forum to include in the Tripartite Forum’s website as much information as possible on programs, activities, conference outcomes and initiatives on or related to interfaith dialogue and cooperation for the promotion of peace,
The Troika will explore possibilities for research collaboration on interfaith and related issues and for linkages and collaboration with related initiatives including the Alliance of Civilizations.
The Troika notes that, in accordance with its Terms of Reference, participation in the projects/activities of the Tripartite Forum is voluntary.
